2014 Hautes Cotes de Nuits. Bourgogne

Medium to deep red/purple colour, bright and youthful, the aromas fresh and fruit-driven, bright and fruity - relatively speaking for a young Burgundy. But simpler. The palate is lively and intense, the acidity slightly elevated and the tannins quite firm. Dark fruits and violets to sniff. A good value lower-level Burgundy, albeit more tannic than I would like 16/5/2017 Huon Hooke

Lovely red hue. The bouquet shows lovely complex raspberry aromas with a touch of oak present. The palate has lovely balanced texture and great persistence of flavour. IL.

Purchase

2014 Nuits St Georges. Les Chaliots. Village

Clean, fresh bouquet; smoky dark-cherry, spices, charcuterie. The flavour is smooth and harmonious, with soft, fine tannins  balanced acidity. Good length. Drinking well already. High quality.  Huon Hooke 93 Points 4.5 Stars

Medium crimson red. The bouquet is slightly subdued at this stage but the palate has beautiful fruit and texture with soft tannin's and good acid balance. IL

Purchase

2014 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Aux Brulées

Deep red/purple colour; deep and rich, but shy and reserved. Savoury dried herb, dried floral and 'forest floor' aromas, dried autumn leaves and not fruity at all. Good depth of flavour and medium-bodied weight, the tannins dry and savoury on the finish. Very good balance, length and style. It just needs time to flower fully. 16/5/2017 Huon Hooke 5 Stars, 95 Points

Generous fruit and yet subtle oak on the nose even though 60% of the oak was new. The depth of fruit is evident in the way the oak is so well integrated. The tannin's are a little more evident in this wine as you would expect from a young 1er Cru. This is a real step up. IL.

Purchase
2014 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Clos des Reas

Deep red/purple colour. Toasty, nutty aromas together with dark fruits, clean and bright and youthful, albeit savoury rather than fruity. Toasted chestnuts too. Good palate balance, length, softness and round shape, savoury and pleasing. It still needs time to open up fully. Plenty of tannin. It has depth and potential. 16/5/2017 16/5/2017 Huon Hooke 5 Stars, 95 Points.

The bouquet is fuller, sweeter and more intense than the wines we have seen so far. The palate is rich, round and generous with great acidity and length. The flavour just lingers. This is a wine to cellar for a few years. IL

Purchase
2014 Clos Vougeot, Grand Cru.

Medium to deep red colour with a faint tint of purple. A reserved but very complex bouquet with sousbois, dried herbs, dried flowers and underbrush aromas. The wine is full-bodied, high-density, and amply supplied with tannins. Very long, satisfying finish. A superb and delicious young Burgundy. It will richly repay cellar-time. This is the best young Clos Vougeot I've tasted in years. 16/5/2017 Huon Hooke 5 Stars, 95 Points.

Fresh spicy yet delicate fruit aromas with a touch of tobacco on the nose. The palate is fine and extremely complex with layers of flavour, blackberry and raspberry which linger in the mouth. A truly superb Grand Cru Burgundy. Cellar for 5 to 10 years.  IL
